Eleven education majors at five Louisiana universities have been awarded scholarships that not only provide traditional financial help, but also offer professional development in areas like classroom management and personal assistance in the early, critical years of teaching.
Long-time government and education leader Jimmy Long of Natchitoches was elected Friday as chair of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System, which is comprised of eight universities statewide with an enrollment of more than 85,000 students.
Citing her “exceptional leadership” in state, regional and national higher education circles, the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System today approved a 7.7 percent compensation increase for System President Dr. Sally Clausen.
Mildred Gallot of Grambling is now an official member of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System. She was sworn in at the Board’s meeting in Baton Rouge on Aug. 26 and immediately got down to business, reviewing the budgets of the UL System and its eight universities (please see other Board actions in this issue).
