Search Committee Invites 10 to Interview for Nicholls Top Post - Feb 13, 2003

BATON ROUGE, La. – Ten individuals from throughout the country have been invited to interview for the presidency of Nicholls State University.

After a two-month national search that attracted 49 leaders of higher education and business, the committee charged with selecting a new Nicholls president finalized its list of semi-finalists today. The committee will interview 10 candidates on Feb. 27 and 28 in Talbot Hall on the Nicholls campus. The public is invited to attend and to submit questions.

Among those scheduled to interview for the top Nicholls post are:

Clifford M. Brock, Ed.D., President, Bainbridge College, Bainbridge, Ga.

Brig. Gen. Thomas V. Draude, M.M.A.S., Senior Vice President/General Manager, USAA Property & Casualty Insurance Group, Tampa, Fla.

David L. Eisler, D.M.A., Provost, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Weber State University, Ogden, Utah

Carroll J. Falcon, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Academic Officer, University of Louisiana System, Baton Rouge

Stephen Thompson Hulbert, D.Ed., Chancellor, The University of Montana-Western, Dillon, Mont.

Allen C. Meadors, Ph.D., FACHE, Chancellor and Professor, University of North Carolina at Pembroke, Pembroke, N.C.

Mark L. Perkins, Ph.D., Senior Associate, American Council on Education, Washington, D.C.

Martha Wingard Tack, Ph.D., Senior Executive for Presidential Initiatives, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Mich.

Diane Vines, Ph.D., Vice Chancellor, External Relations & Economic Development, Eugene, Ore.

Michael A. Wartell, Ph.D., Chancellor and Professor of Chemistry, Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne, Ind.

"We have a diverse group of outstanding candidates. That says a lot about Nicholls and this region. We’re interested in meeting the candidates face to face and introducing them to the campus community with an eye towards fit,"University of Louisiana President Sally Clausen said.

Clausen, the chair of the Nicholls Presidential Search Committee, said her office will release a complete schedule of interviews within the next few days. The committee expects to conduct final interviews March 28 in Baton Rouge, and the Board of Supervisors for the UL System could name a new president that day at its regular meeting.

Nicholls President Donald Ayo announced his retirement from the university in October. The UL System promptly began a national search process to replace him.
