Many students are displaced due to the devastation of Hurricane Ida on southeast Louisiana. Operating under the assumption that these displaced students have temporarily relocated to other parts of the state and recognizing the geographic spread of the University of Louisiana System, member institutions are offering resources to Nicholls, Southeastern, UNO and remote students from other member institutions displaced by the storm through the remainder of the fall term.
Resources include access to campus WiFi, library, computer labs, parking, and other amenities such as counseling, rec centers, campus dining options, and other health services. Each member institution has unique access processes. To organize outreach, the University of Louisiana System has set up a registration page for displaced UNO, Nicholls, and SLU students to request campus access. The University of Louisiana System will provide student contact information to a designated campus contacts who will dispense specific access information to displaced students.
Currently, campuses are still being assessed to identify the most pressing physical needs. Soon, we will have a better idea of those physical needs as well as an understanding of the needs of the students, faculty and staff from the affected area. The immediate understanding of the devastation indicates that financial assistance will be necessary for a full recovery. Give below to the UL System’s Hurricane Ida Relief Fund.
