THURSDAY: Executive Committee of UL System Board to Weigh Campus Budget Reduction Plans
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Executive Committee of the Board of Supervisors of the University of Louisiana System will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 to consider the budget reduction plans of its eight universities.
The meeting will be held in room 1-141, “The Colorado Room” of the Claiborne Building Conference Center, 1201 North Third St. in downtown Baton Rouge. The meeting is open to the public.
The committee will be provided overviews for trimming millions of dollars from universities’ 2008-09 operating budgets. The public higher education community was notified Friday of the need to cut $109 million from its operating budgets for the current fiscal year, which will end in July. The UL System’s share of the reduction comes to $33.4 million.
The committee also will consider a resolution to authorize campus presidents to initiate and implement plans related to:

Personnel actions

Reduction and/or elimination of student programs and services

Reduction and/or elimination of faculty/staff programs and services

Reduction and/or elimination of community programs and services

Revenue enhancement strategies
