UL SYSTEM BOARD CHAIR ANNOUNCES ULM PRESIDENTIAL SEARCH COMMITTEE

University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors Chair Mark Romero is announcing the search committee responsible for reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and recommending finalists for president of the University of Louisiana Monroe. The finalists will ultimately be interviewed and a president selected by the full UL System Board of Supervisors. UL System President and CEO Jim Henderson will chair the committee as a non-voting member. Voting members include 10 Board members and Dr. Janelle McDaniel, president of the ULM Faculty Senate. In addition to the 11 voting members, 10 community members will serve in an advisory capacity as non-voting members.

“Beyond our committed System Board members, this committee is filled with stakeholders who, as alumni or community members, have a vested interest in the success of the university,” Board Chair Mark Romero said. “It is our highest priority to conduct a transparent search with ample opportunity for community input.”

Dr. Nick Bruno recently revealed his plans to retire in June after nearly a decade of service to the university within his 45 years of state service.

“During his tenure, Dr. Bruno has significantly advanced the institution and the next leader is poised to continue that progress,” Henderson said. “We look forward to hearing from the Monroe community about the qualities they feel are most important in the university’s next leader.”

The committee’s first meeting will take place on March 11 at ULM. During that meeting the committee will hear from the university’s constituencies and vote to accept their charge and a timeline for the search.
