University of Louisiana at Lafayette

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette (UL Lafayette), established in 1898, is the largest institution in the UL System and the only one recognized as a Carnegie Research 1 (R1) university, a distinction that underscores its commitment to research excellence and academic leadership.

It is a place rich in culture and community, where students enjoy a personal and engaging educational experience. As the second-largest university in Louisiana, UL Lafayette offers the advantages of a large university with the personal feel of a smaller institution. Its distinctive culture, shaped by the Cajun region’s heritage, fosters a close-knit community of scholars and friends.
