Dr. Alaina Daigle is an Assistant Professor of Nursing and currently serves as the Department Head for Nursing at Nicholls State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in May 2004 and practiced as a registered nurse in a variety of healthcare settings. She began her career in academia at Nicholls in January 2014, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in nursing education. She went on to obtain her Ph.D. in Nursing from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in August 2022. During her time as a nursing faculty member, she also served as the BSN Program Coordinator beginning in May 2021 until she was appointed Department Head in January 2023.

Alaina serves as the Chair of the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board at Nicholls and was honored as a Great 100 Nurse in Louisiana in June 2024. She is an active member and past President of the Xi Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and she currently teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, in addition to her administrative duties. Her research interests have focused on professionalism in nursing, and she developed an instrument to measure professionalism that will be published in The Journal of Nursing Measurement at the end of 2025. Outside of her work at Nicholls, Alaina is actively involved in her community and church parish and enjoys reading, shopping, and spending time with her husband and three children.
