2025 Award Recipients
This year’s honorees were recognized at the 2025 For Our Future Conference for their exceptional contributions to the UL System. This section is updated annually to highlight award recipients advancing the UL System’s mission to transform lives through education.

Dr. Anjan Biswas, Grambling State University
Faculty Excellence Award
Dr. Anjan Biswas of Grambling State University was honored for his world-renowned contributions to mathematics, his prolific research portfolio of more than 1,300 published articles and over $10 million in research funding, and his deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of scholars. His influence extends globally, but his students remain at the heart of his work.

Matthew Craig, Northwestern State University
Staff Excellence Impact Award
Matthew Craig of Northwestern State University received this award for his leadership in revitalizing student media and expanding student programming. Through mentoring, creative vision, and tireless dedication, he has created meaningful opportunities for students to lead, engage, and succeed.

Dr. Alexis Horace, University of Louisiana Monroe
Agent of Change Award
Dr. Alexis Horace of the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) was recognized for her leadership of the ULM Harm Reduction Education and Referral for Opioid Overdose Reversal (H.E.R.O.) Program, a statewide initiative tackling the opioid crisis through education and prevention. With over 2,100 individuals trained, including nearly 700 first responders, her work is saving lives and demonstrating the power of higher education to drive real change in Louisiana communities.
