2026 Academic Summit

Hosted this year by Southeastern Louisiana University, the University of Louisiana System’s Academic Summit brought together students, faculty, and campus leaders from across the state to celebrate the research, creative works, performances, and service projects taking place on our campuses. The annual event provides students with an opportunity to showcase their work, engage with peers and faculty from across the System, and demonstrate how classroom learning translates into real-world impact.
Among the students participating was Allie Buchanan, a sophomore psychology student at Louisiana Tech University, whose research explores gaps in psychological testing for individuals who are blind and the implications those gaps have for mental health care and support services.
Also participating was Madison Mason, a senior theatre student at Grambling State University, whose set design project for Master Harold and the Boys examined the historical realities of apartheid-era Johannesburg and translated that understanding into a visual representation of the story.
While their work reflects different interests, disciplines, and approaches, both projects demonstrate the opportunities available to students across the UL System to explore meaningful questions, develop their talents, and apply their learning in ways that contribute to their professions, communities, and the future of Louisiana.
The UL System extends its appreciation to Dr. William Wainwright and Dr. Amber Narro for their leadership in hosting this year’s Summit, and to Dr. Erica Calais for her work with campuses across the System to help make the event a success. Additionally, thank you to all our sponsors. This event would not be possible without your support.
